One of the reasons I wanted to start this blog was to shine a spotlight on the wonderful work that many local charities do and raise awareness about how people can support them.
There is a wonderful charity based in Huddersfield called The Kirkwood Hospice. The support they provide to families who need them is second to none and the staff are incredibly dedicated.
Each year they run an event called The Kirkwood Memory Walk - it's their flagship event and a key fundraiser for the charity. The reason I wanted to raise awareness about this event is because it's super family friendly!
It's being held on Saturday 1st July at 10pm but there's entertainment running from 8pm. The walk is a circulate route, starting and ending at John Smith's Stadium in Huddersfield. People taking part can pick between walking either 6 or 10 miles. There's even a great Early Bird offer being run at the moment (finishing on 30th April) and if you sign up this week then you'll get a discounted rate to enter.
